Iran reportedly directed allied Houthi forces to deploy missiles and drones near the strait, ready to restrict access if U.S. strikes target Iranian infrastructure, tying developments to broader regional conflict dynamics. Shipping data shows multiple oil tankers rerouting or turning back, with selective restrictions affecting exports to Asia and prompting insurance premium increases. Prior attacks tapered after a 2025 ceasefire but resumed amid 2026 tensions, leaving the strait open yet under active threat. Trader sentiment reflects uncertainty over escalation triggers, potential diplomatic interventions, or de-escalation steps in coming months.
