Matthew Thomson and Keegan Rice meet in the round of 16 at the ITF M25 Laval on outdoor hard courts, an entry-level pro event offering limited ATP ranking points. Both players bring recent college backgrounds into the match, with Thomson holding a career-high ATP ranking near 872 and Rice ranked around 1103 after a strong 35-6 season at Virginia. Limited professional head-to-head history exists, so form on hard courts, recent match fitness, and adaptation from collegiate to ITF competition serve as the main variables. Rice enters on strong recent momentum from college play, while Thomson has slightly more documented pro experience at this level. The hard surface favors consistent baseline play and strong serving, typical advantages in M25 events where upsets remain common due to variable experience gaps.
