Recent National Weather Service and model consensus forecasts indicate a cold front passage midweek will shift winds northerly, advecting cooler, drier air into the Chicago area and suppressing highs on September 10 to the mid- to upper 70s°F. Official guidance from NWS Chicago points to a high near 75°F under mostly sunny skies after morning clouds, while other runs cluster between 74–77°F, consistent with the market’s heaviest weighting on the 76–77°F and 78–79°F bins. Lake Michigan moderation may cap readings near the shoreline a few degrees lower than inland sites. This cooling follows several days of 80–90°F readings earlier in the month and aligns with climatological norms of 78°F for the date, leaving limited upside risk for temperatures above 80°F absent forecast shifts.
