**Current National Weather Service forecasts and ensemble model guidance indicate a September 24 overnight low in Chicago centered in the upper 50s°F, aligning with the market’s leading 58-59°F (36%) and 56-57°F (27%) bins.** Persistent easterly to northeasterly flow off Lake Michigan, combined with mostly cloudy skies and a stable surface high, limits radiational cooling and keeps minimum temperatures from falling further. Dew points in the low-to-mid 50s and light winds (generally 5–10 mph) support this moderated range rather than sharper drops typical of clear, calm nights. Historical September climatology shows average lows near 55–59°F, so the current setup sits close to or slightly above normal. Traders appear to be pricing the tight consensus across NHC/NOAA and private models, with tail outcomes like 47°F or below reflecting low-probability shifts if a stronger cold front accelerates. The next 00Z–12Z model cycles and updated NWS point forecasts will provide the clearest near-term signal before resolution.
