Trump's approval rating has hovered in a narrow band around 35-40% amid sustained public concern over the ongoing U.S. involvement in Iran and resulting spikes in gasoline prices, producing closely balanced odds of a weekly shift. Recent surveys, including a Reuters/Ipsos poll showing a dip to 33% in mid-August, underscore the drag from foreign policy and cost-of-living pressures, while partisan gaps remain wide and independent voters show limited movement. Short-term fluctuations often stem from new polling releases, incremental diplomatic or military updates in the Middle East, or economic indicators such as inflation data. Absent major breaking developments, trader consensus reflects the low historical volatility in weekly approval changes during periods of entrenched negative sentiment.
