Recent National Weather Service forecasts for Chicago on September 20 point to a high in the upper 60s under increasing cloud cover and a 60% chance of showers, driven by northeast winds and an approaching frontal system that limits daytime heating. Model consensus supports this cooler outcome relative to the 74°F historical average, though slight variations in shower timing and intensity across runs create uncertainty around whether the peak reaches the low or mid-70s. Traders weigh these atmospheric details against climatological baselines, with the tight spread across 66–71°F buckets reflecting genuine forecast divergence rather than consensus on any single threshold. Updated model guidance ahead of the date will likely refine probabilities further.
