Recent model guidance from sources including MetService and ECMWF indicates a mild northerly airflow over Wellington on September 18, supporting daytime maxima near 14–16 °C through warm-air advection and limited cloud cover. Northerly winds enhance mixing and reduce nocturnal cooling while allowing greater daytime solar heating on mostly sunny conditions, yet small shifts in the timing of any southerly change or increased low-level moisture could cap the peak at 13 °C or push it to 17 °C. Historical September averages of roughly 12–15 °C provide context, but trader-implied odds remain evenly distributed because ensemble spreads and the final official observation still carry meaningful uncertainty ahead of the next forecast updates.
