The Detroit Tigers head to Fenway Park for a four-game series against the Boston Red Sox starting Friday at 7:15 p.m. ET, with both AL squads hovering around .500 early in the season—Tigers at 9-9 in the AL Central and Red Sox competitive in the AL East. Trader consensus reflects tight matchups amid pitching injuries: Tigers without Justin Verlander (15-day IL, hip inflammation), Reese Olson, and Jackson Jobe (60-day ILs), while Red Sox miss Kutter Crawford (wrist) and Triston Casas (knee). Mixed recent form shows Tigers splitting series with St. Louis and dropping at Minnesota; Red Sox bolstered rotation via recent transactions like activating Garrett Crochet. Home-field edge and Fenway's short porch favor Boston's power hitters, but Detroit's road rest could factor in this low-stakes early tilt.
