The San Francisco Giants, mired in an early-season slump at 6-11 with a league-worst 2.73 runs per game, head to Nationals Park for a three-game series starting April 17 against the 8-9 Washington Nationals, who boast a potent 6.40 runs per game. Logan Webb (1-2, 5.25 ERA) starts for the Giants opposite Zack Littell (0-1, 4.20 ERA) for Washington in the opener, pitting Webb's veteran command against Littell's solid early form. Giants bullpen depth is tested with RP José Buttó sidelined by arm surgery and recent 10-day IL stints for OF Harrison Bader (hamstring) and Jared Oliva (wrist), while Nationals placed RP Ken Waldichuk (forearm) and Cole Henry (rotator cuff) on IL last week. San Francisco limps in off a Reds series loss, lacking offensive firepower despite Willy Adames' contributions, as Washington's home-field edge and recent Pirates matchup momentum shape a competitive trader consensus.
