Houston Astros host the St. Louis Cardinals in the series opener at Daikin Park on April 17, with Astros' rotation decimated by injuries to Hunter Brown (shoulder), Cristian Javier (shoulder), Tatsuya Imai (arm fatigue), and Cody Bolton (back, newly IL April 15), forcing a TBD starter against Cardinals righty Kyle Leahy (1-2, 5.14 ERA). Astros sit at 7-11 with a 2-8 skid in their last 10 but boast a strong 6-2 home record and .272 team batting average; Cardinals enter 9-8 on a 5-5 L10 stretch amid minor ailments like Lars Nootbaar's 60-day IL (heel). Recent Astros setbacks include Jeremy Peña's hamstring strain (10-day IL April 13), thinning infield depth, while warm Houston weather (78°F, possible showers) favors the roof-closed dome matchup.
