Apple is actively testing and holding early talks with CXMT for LPDDR DRAM supplies aimed at devices sold in China, driven by the ongoing AI-fueled memory shortage that has pushed prices sharply higher and forced Apple to raise select MacBook and iPad prices. However, CXMT remains on the Pentagon’s 1260H military-company list, carries significant reputational and regulatory risks, and faces strong congressional opposition to any expanded U.S. tech ties. The Chinese firm is also prioritizing domestic customers such as Xiaomi and ByteDance, with production largely committed and limited near-term export availability. These political, capacity, and supply-chain constraints continue to keep trader consensus favoring no Apple purchase of CXMT chips in 2026.
