Tampa Bay Rays enter the series finale at Guaranteed Rate Field on a five-game win streak—including 8-5 and 8-3 triumphs over the Chicago White Sox in the first two games—bolstering their 10-7 AL East-leading record and 8-2 mark over the last 10 amid trader consensus. Steven Matz (3-0, 3.94 ERA) takes the mound for Tampa Bay with a dominant 0.82 career ERA against Chicago, facing Jordan Leasure (1-0, 4.00 ERA) in the White Sox starter debut versus the Rays. Pitching staffs are thinned by injuries—Rays missing Ryan Pepiot (60-day IL, hip) and Joe Boyle (15-day IL, elbow); White Sox without Jonathan Cannon (15-day IL, hip) and several elbow cases—exacerbating Chicago's 6-12 slump, 3-7 recent form, and weak 3.17 runs per game offense.
