Alabama's 2nd congressional district underwent redistricting in 2026 following court rulings and legislative action, shifting boundaries to increase its Republican lean and reduce the Black voting-age population share. This change has positioned the seat as a prime target for national Republican efforts to flip it from Democratic control. Incumbent Shomari Figures (D) faces a competitive general election under the new map, while multiple Republicans compete in the August 11 primary. Trader consensus at 74.5% for the Republican Party reflects the altered electoral math, Alabama's partisan baseline, and limited polling showing GOP advantages, though Democratic fundraising and turnout mobilization in remaining strongholds introduce uncertainty ahead of November.

A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
