Gold prices near $4,450 per ounce in late August 2026 reflect robust central bank accumulation—averaging 50 tonnes monthly with recent spikes to 100 tonnes—offsetting softer investor flows and providing a structural floor. Recent U.S. data, including weaker July payrolls and cooling CPI/PPI prints, have reduced September 2026 Fed hike probabilities, easing pressure from real yields while a firmer dollar and elevated long-term Treasury yields cap upside. Analysts from Goldman Sachs to J.P. Morgan maintain year-end targets of $4,900–$6,000, citing diversification demand and fiscal risks. Key near-term catalysts include the September FOMC meeting and August CPI release, which will shape rate expectations and volatility into the new month.
