Incumbent Republican James Uthmeier holds a strong position in the November 2026 Florida attorney general race following his uncontested primary win and appointment to the office in early 2025. Traders assign him the highest probability due to Florida’s consistent Republican advantage in statewide contests, his substantial fundraising lead exceeding several million dollars, and endorsements from party leaders and law enforcement figures. Democratic nominee José Javier Rodriguez, a former state senator and Labor Department official, secured his party’s nomination without opposition and gained some union support, yet faces structural challenges including lower resources and the state’s electoral patterns. Recent developments, including Rodriguez’s calls for document preservation tied to ongoing investigations and cross-party endorsements for the challenger, have not materially altered the consensus implied probabilities ahead of the general election.
