Greg Dolezal secured the Republican nomination in the June 2026 runoff after prevailing over John F. Kennedy, positioning him as the frontrunner in trader assessments for the November 3 general election against Democrat Josh McLaurin. McLaurin advanced by defeating Nabilah Parkes in the Democratic runoff. Georgia's recent Republican performance in statewide contests and Dolezal's alignment with core party priorities on issues like election integrity and tax policy contribute to his stronger implied probability in the market. McLaurin's focus on bipartisan legislative experience and affordability measures keeps the race competitive, though no major campaign developments or polling shifts have emerged since midsummer. The November outcome will determine the next presiding officer of the state Senate.
