Recent National Weather Service and model guidance point to a high temperature in Chicago on September 18 centered in the low-to-mid 70s, with lake-moderated easterly flow and lingering cloud cover from prior showers limiting daytime warming. Official forecasts from the Chicago/Romeoville office and supporting guidance show highs near 71–74 °F, consistent with climatological norms for mid-September but tempered by the stabilizing influence of Lake Michigan on boundary-layer temperatures. Key uncertainties include the exact timing of any clearing and subtle differences among short-range models regarding mixing depth and wind shift. Updated NWS point forecasts and afternoon observations will provide the data used for market resolution.
