In the Monza Challenger quarterfinals on clay, 20-year-old Spaniard Martin Landaluce (#105) meets 25-year-old Frenchman Hugo Gaston (#117) in their first head-to-head matchup. Landaluce rides momentum from straight-sets wins over Italians Federico Arnaboldi and Marco Cecchinato this week, building on his Houston ATP 250 run where he upset Marcos Giron and Luciano Darderi before exiting. Gaston advanced with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Gianluca Cadenasso in the last round, showing solid clay form despite a 2026 record hampered by early exits like a first-round loss to Luca Van Assche. As clay specialists—Landaluce with strong baseline play, Gaston leveraging lefty spin—traders weigh the rising prospect's aggression against the veteran's experience amid home-crowd energy in Italy.
