Alexander Shevchenko, ranked No. 77 with a career-high of 45, enters as the clear experience edge over 18-year-old qualifier Diego Dedura-Palomero (No. 258) in this BMW Open clay-court qualifier on outdoor courts in Munich. Shevchenko posted a straight-sets win over Radu David Turcanu in Bucharest Challenger's first round on March 31 before an early Monte-Carlo qualies exit, showing solid clay form amid a 20-13 surface record this year. Dedura-Palomero, a lefty German making limited ATP appearances, fell 6-4, 7-5 to Roman Safiullin in Madrid Challenger R32 on April 6 after quali success, buoyed by home-crowd energy but facing a rankings gulf. No head-to-head exists; mild spring weather (around 15°C) poses minimal disruption, though upsets loom in qualifiers.
