Higher-ranked Hugo Gaston (No. 117) holds a slight edge over Timofey Skatov (No. 198) in their second-round clash at the ATP Challenger Monza on clay, buoyed by a 1-0 head-to-head lead from a 2019 M25 Getxo win (6-0, 1-6, 6-4). Both advanced convincingly in first-round matches on April 7, with Gaston defeating Gianluca Cadenasso 6-4, 6-4 and Skatov routing Norbert Gombos 6-3, 6-1, highlighting efficient serving and break-point conversion amid solid early clay form (Gaston 135-94 career; Skatov 3-2 YTD). Gaston's left-handed spin suits the surface, while Skatov's recent Challenger final in Bengaluru adds momentum; no injuries reported, though outdoor conditions could influence play. Trader consensus weighs Gaston's experience against Skatov's baseline resilience.
