Recent National Weather Service guidance points to a high near 70°F in San Francisco on September 17, driven by persistent onshore flow from the cool Pacific and a lingering marine layer that limits afternoon warming. Model consensus shows partly cloudy skies with a slight morning rain chance before gradual clearing, keeping maximum temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s depending on the precise timing of cloud break and wind strength. Southerly flow could allow modest inland warming, yet the coastal upwelling and typical September marine influence anchor readings close to the 70.7°F historical average for the date. Trader emphasis on the 70-73°F bins reflects this narrow forecast range, with resolution hinging on official downtown observations once the daily maximum is recorded.
