Incumbent Republican Ann Wagner seeks a seventh term in Missouri’s 2nd Congressional District, a seat rated Solid Republican by Cook Political Report, Inside Elections, and Sabato’s Crystal Ball. The district’s R+6 partisan voting index and 2024 presidential margin reflect its structural Republican lean, supporting the 77.5% trader consensus for a GOP win. Wagner faces primary challengers ahead of the August 4 contest, while Democrats including Frederick Wellman compete in their primary. A May 2026 survey showed Wagner trailing a generic Democrat narrowly in head-to-head testing, yet historical results and the absence of major shifts keep the implied probability firmly with Republicans. The November 3 general election outcome hinges on primary results and turnout in suburban St. Louis County.
