**Democratic nominee Rebecca Bennett holds a strong edge in the NJ-07 race.** The district, represented by Republican incumbent Thomas Kean Jr. since 2023, is rated a toss-up by major forecasters including Cook Political Report. Bennett, a former Navy helicopter pilot and healthcare executive, won the Democratic primary decisively on June 2, 2026, after consolidating support from most county parties. A late-May poll showed her leading Kean 47-43 percent. Kean’s extended absence from Congress due to health issues has drawn attention, while the seat features a narrow Republican registration advantage and competitive voting history. Traders appear to weigh these factors, recent polling trends, and the open nature of the November 3 contest in assigning the current implied probabilities.
