Nicolas Mejia enters as the seeded No. 3 and higher-ranked player at No. 171 against local hopeful Alex Hernandez (No. 489) in the first round of the San Luis Potosi Challenger on outdoor clay, where Mejia boasts a dominant 3-1 head-to-head record—including a 6-3, 6-2 straight-sets win over Hernandez in last year's event here. Hernandez notched a recent upset over Mejia in Morelia's round of 32 on hard courts last month, but both arrive off uneven form in the Mexican swing, with Mejia dropping early qualifying exits at Indian Wells and Miami qualies while Hernandez struggled in Cuernavaca and M15 qualifiers. No injuries reported; clay suits Mejia's baseline game, though home crowd could boost the underdog Mexican in this evenly matched stylistic battle.
