Lin Kuo-chang of the DPP holds a narrow lead in recent head-to-head polling against KMT nominee Wu Tsung-hsien for the November 28 Yilan County Magistrate race, reflecting a competitive contest shaped by opposition coordination between the KMT and TPP. A May joint poll showed Lin at 28.9% versus Wu at 27.6%, with the gap widening only slightly in scenarios featuring TPP's Chen Wan-hui instead. Wu secured the opposition nomination after internal polling, followed by campaign events emphasizing governance efficiency and central policy critiques, while Lin highlights local advantages and incremental progress. No decisive shifts have emerged since spring surveys, leaving the outcome sensitive to turnout, late endorsements, and voter priorities on welfare and administration through election day.
