The dominant 95.5% market-implied odds for a 72–73°F low in Los Angeles on September 7 reflect the official National Weather Service observation at Los Angeles International Airport, where the minimum reached exactly 73°F shortly after 5 a.m. local time—eight degrees above the 1991–2020 climatological normal of 65°F. This reading aligns with a persistent marine layer and above-average sea-surface temperatures that limited nocturnal cooling across the coastal basin, consistent with model guidance and station data showing overnight lows in the low-to-mid 70s. While a different official station or measurement window could theoretically alter resolution, the strong consensus rests on verified NWS records rather than forecasts, leaving little realistic scope for deviation absent an unreported data revision.
