Big Tech’s record AI capital expenditures, with the top hyperscalers projected to exceed $1 trillion across 2025–2026 on data centers, chips, and infrastructure, remain the central driver of trader sentiment around an AI bubble burst. The Bank for International Settlements’ June 2026 warning highlighted risks of disappointing returns triggering a sudden pullback in financing, echoing dot-com patterns, amid surging debt issuance and supply constraints like power and memory pricing. June stock volatility, including sharp sell-offs in Nvidia and related names, amplified concerns, though surveys later showed declining perceived bubble risk and Macquarie analysts described the cycle as “rolling bubbles” across the value chain rather than a single collapse. Key upcoming catalysts include third-quarter earnings from major spenders, potential large language model releases, and any regulatory moves on AI exports or energy use that could shift adoption momentum or cost structures.
