Nicolás Maduro faces U.S. narco-terrorism and cocaine importation conspiracy charges in Manhattan federal court following his January 2026 capture, with a June 2027 trial date set after he and his wife pleaded not guilty. Defense motions filed in early September 2026 seek dismissal on sovereign immunity grounds, with oral arguments scheduled for November 17, potentially resolving the case before trial. Pretrial litigation, including challenges to jurisdiction and official acts, remains pending alongside a complex evidentiary record spanning decades and multiple alleged co-conspirators. Traders price the “No” outcome at 81.5% amid these structural barriers and the inherent uncertainty of securing convictions on every count in a high-profile foreign-leader prosecution.
