This market will resolve to “Yes” if a snap election is called in Greenland between market creation and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No.” The calling of a snap election requires the formal dissolution of the Inatsisartut, or another formal scheduling, according to the rules of the jurisdiction, of an election for all members of the Inatsisartut prior to their scheduled election at the end of the legislative term. An announcement of an intention to call an election, a failed vote of no confidence, or the collapse of the governing coalition will not by itself qualify toward a “Yes” resolution. The resolution source for this market will be official information from the government of Greenland and the Inatsisartut; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Greenland’s parliament, the Inatsisartut, held its most recent general election in March 2025, after which the Democrats formed a broad four-party coalition government under Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen that controls 23 of 31 seats. This majority coalition has remained intact through September 2026, with no reported breakdowns, no-confidence motions, or internal disputes that would normally trigger an early dissolution. Recent political attention has centered on a trilateral security agreement with Denmark and the United States expected to be signed at the UN General Assembly, which all major parties have publicly endorsed while affirming Greenland’s sovereignty and self-determination. In the absence of legislative gridlock, economic shocks, or coalition fractures, the current term is on track toward its scheduled conclusion in 2029.
