Persistent northeasterly flow and lingering cloud cover from a cool air mass are limiting daytime heating across the Chicago area, with National Weather Service and private model guidance converging on a daily maximum of 65–68°F for September 24. Recent observations show highs stuck in the low-to-mid 60s amid easterly winds of 5–15 mph that suppress warming relative to the 1991–2020 September 24 average of 72.9°F. Ensemble forecasts indicate minimal warming potential before the period ends, keeping the 68–69°F bin as the market favorite while assigning lower probability to 70°F-plus outcomes that would require unexpected clearing and southerly flow. Traders are weighting the latest model runs and climatological analogs showing similar setups rarely exceed the mid-60s.
