Latest National Weather Service guidance and model consensus point to a high near 96°F for Houston on September 22 under sunny skies and light northerly winds shifting northeast. Persistent late-summer warmth, with recent highs running 6–8°F above the late-September normal of about 89°F, underpins the near-even split between the 94–95°F and 96–97°F outcomes. Subtle differences in afternoon cloud development, exact peak timing, or local measurement site variations could shift the official reading between these bins. Heat indices near 107°F reflect high moisture but do not affect the dry-bulb temperature used for resolution. Updated model runs and morning observations tomorrow will clarify whether conditions trend slightly cooler or hold in the upper 90s.
