Rastislav Trnka’s position as the three-term incumbent, combined with consistent polling leads near 47-49% in mid-2026 surveys, underpins his 59% market price ahead of the October 24 regional vote. His emphasis on completed infrastructure projects and regional autonomy appeals to voters wary of Bratislava influence, even amid ongoing legal proceedings. Igor Šimko’s broad coalition of governing parties and Marián Porvažník’s unified opposition backing create the main challenges, yet fragmented support and lower individual polling shares limit their traction. With candidate lists finalized in late August, the tight multi-candidate field leaves room for turnout shifts or late campaign developments to influence final separation among contenders.
