Incumbent Republican Clay Higgins automatically advances from the canceled May 16 closed primary as the sole GOP candidate in Louisiana's 3rd Congressional District, a Solid Republican seat with R+22 partisan voter index, driving trader consensus to 92% for a Republican winner. Recent qualifying in February confirmed three underfunded Democratic primary challengers—John Day, Tia LeBrun, and Caleb Walker—each with under $5,000 cash on hand versus Higgins' $535,000, alongside independent Matthew Courtney, reinforcing his dominance amid prior Trump endorsement and historical reelection margins. While a Democratic general election upset remains improbable absent a national wave or Higgins scandal, health event, or legal issue, the May 16 Democratic primary and potential June 27 runoff could clarify the nominee before the November 3 general.
