Persistent northeasterly flow from Lake Michigan and a cool Canadian air mass are suppressing Chicago temperatures ahead of September 23, with National Weather Service forecasts and ensemble guidance showing overnight lows in the mid-50s to low 60s°F. Persistent cloud cover and onshore winds limit daytime heating and diurnal range, keeping the minimum near or slightly below seasonal norms of about 55°F. Model consensus remains stable but carries typical uncertainty in exact timing of any wind shift or clearing that could allow modest warming or further cooling. Traders appear split between scenarios of continued suppression versus potential moderation, with fresh model runs and NWS updates likely to clarify the outcome before resolution.
