Northeast winds and persistent onshore flow from Lake Michigan are keeping Chicago temperatures suppressed below seasonal norms ahead of September 23, with National Weather Service guidance and model consensus centering the daily high in the mid-60s. Recent observations show highs near 64°F on adjacent days under mostly cloudy to partly sunny skies, reflecting a stable cool air mass rather than rapid warming. This produces closely matched market-implied odds for 64-65°F and 66-67°F bins, as small differences in forecast cloud cover, mixing depth, or lake-breeze timing can shift the peak by a degree or two. Ensemble spreads remain modest given the proximity to the event, though updated model runs and NWS briefings over the next 48 hours will refine resolution criteria around official maximum readings.
