Yesterday's severe thunderstorms and high winds disrupted over 3,500 flights at 27 major airports including Southeast hubs, normalizing but leaving residual effects. Current issues include weather-driven departure delays averaging 25-45 minutes at MIA, FLL, PHL, and ORD, with increasing trends at DCA. Escalating Northeast thunderstorms or FAA ground delays at high-volume airports like ORD or JFK could push toward 5,500+, while clearing skies might cap below 4,500.
