If the results of this election are not definitively known by December 31, 2026, this market will resolve to “Other.” This market will resolve based on the results of the primary election for Governor of California as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the government of California, specifically the Office of the Secretary of State.**Steve Hilton secured a dominant position in the Orange County portion of California's June 2, 2026, top-two gubernatorial primary due to strong Republican consolidation around the Trump-endorsed candidate.** Orange County’s voter base favored the former Fox News host and UK political adviser, who outperformed other Republicans such as Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco and limited Democratic crossover. Katie Porter’s local congressional roots and visibility among Democrats did not translate into countywide primacy amid a fragmented Democratic field that included Xavier Becerra, Tom Steyer, and others. Statewide results showed Hilton advancing comfortably to face Becerra in November, reflecting similar dynamics locally where Republican turnout and preference alignment boosted his share. Late provisional or mail ballots remain subject to final canvass, though historical patterns and current margins make significant shifts improbable.
