**Widespread afternoon thunderstorms and thick cloud cover are the main factors capping Miami's expected high on September 23.** National Weather Service and private forecast models indicate a 70-90% chance of showers and thunderstorms, driven by lingering moisture and an upper-level disturbance, which limits solar heating and promotes evaporative cooling. Most guidance points to highs in the mid-to-upper 80s, with several runs settling near 84°F. This uncertainty between the closely matched 84-85°F and 86-87°F market outcomes hinges on storm timing, coverage, and intensity—earlier or more widespread convection favors the lower bin, while delayed development could allow brief clearing and a push into the upper 80s. Historical September patterns in Miami show similar convective regimes frequently holding daily maxima below climatological averages around 86-88°F.
