Recent July 2026 CPI data showing a moderation to 2.8% year-over-year from 3.2% in June has anchored trader expectations for South Korea's full-year inflation near the Bank of Korea's 2.7% forecast. Persistent upward pressures from elevated oil prices, a weaker won, and pass-through from energy and agricultural costs continue to support the 2.7–2.9% band as the modal outcome at 53.1% implied probability. Official revisions raising the 2026 inflation projection to 2.6% and core readings at multi-year highs reinforce this positioning, while the central bank's July rate hike signals vigilance above the 2% target. Upcoming monthly CPI releases and monetary policy decisions through year-end represent key catalysts that could shift the distribution among narrower ranges.
