Jo-Yee Chan enters the W15 Rancho Santa Fe round of 16 as the slight favorite on outdoor hard courts, buoyed by a higher current WTA singles ranking near 1099 versus Annabelle Xu’s 1355 and stronger recent ITF results, including a first-round win over Mahendran after reaching the San Diego quarterfinals. Both 22-year-old players bring college pedigrees—Chan from San Diego State with solid singles and doubles experience, Xu from Virginia—but Chan’s domestic event location and consistent hard-court form give her the edge in trader pricing. Xu advanced past Kelly Keller but faces a tougher stylistic test against a player with more recent match wins at this level. No major injuries or withdrawals have altered the draw, keeping focus on baseline consistency and first-serve percentages in the head-to-head matchup.
