Andrey Chepelev enters the ITF Gandia matchup as the clear favorite due to his ATP ranking near 360 and prior experience at Challenger level, including recent appearances on European clay. The 27-year-old Russian has compiled stronger recent results against higher-caliber opponents than 20-year-old Spaniard Mario Arce Fernandez, whose ranking sits around 2192 and whose form has come primarily from ITF qualifying rounds. The clay-court setting favors Chepelev’s established game, while Arce Fernandez will need to leverage home-surface familiarity and youth to generate upset potential in what shapes up as a significant ranking and experience mismatch.
