Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan signed the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement on August 7, 2026, establishing collective defense obligations and explicitly inviting additional members to strengthen regional deterrence and cooperation. Diplomatic signals since the signing have centered on Egypt, which officials in Ankara and Cairo describe as a likely participant pending technical and constitutional reviews, while Gulf states including Qatar and Kuwait have signaled openness through public welcomes or calls for broader GCC involvement. Turkish President Erdoğan has emphasized expansion to other “brotherly” countries seeking stability, with analysts noting interest from Jordan, Azerbaijan, and Syria amid ongoing bilateral consultations. The compressed timeline to December 31 limits resolution windows to near-term foreign ministry statements, summit outcomes, or formal accession processes rather than prolonged negotiations. Trader assessments reflect these early expressions of interest alongside structural barriers such as alliance alignments and legal reviews.

This market will resolve to “Yes” if the listed country formally joins the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”.
The listed country will be considered to have formally joined if either of the following occurs:
- the country signs the Agreement or a formal accession protocol or instrument that, by its terms or official characterization, makes it a party, member, or signatory; or
