Recent National Weather Service and ensemble forecasts for August 31 indicate partly sunny skies with highs centered in the low to mid-80s°F across New York City, aligning with the market's leading 80-81°F bin at 30% implied probability. Key variables include steering winds and moisture from a passing frontal system that could enhance cloud cover or trigger brief showers, potentially capping daytime maxima, while clear breaks and southerly flow might push readings toward 82-85°F. Model spread in timing and intensity of these features creates the observed probability distribution across bins, with tails reflecting uncertainty in boundary-layer mixing and urban heat effects. Updated NHC and local office guidance ahead of the holiday weekend will refine these projections.
