Forecast models from MetService, Met Office, and international ensembles indicate a daily maximum near 14°C in Wellington on September 17 under northerly flow, with widespread cloud, showers, and gusty winds limiting daytime warming above September’s typical 12.5–13°C average. Consensus across sources points to a peak in the early afternoon before cooler southerly shifts arrive, though microscale variability around the harbor and hills introduces modest uncertainty in the exact high. Trader consensus reflected in the market prices—favoring 15°C or 14°C—aligns with this narrow range while pricing in potential for slight upward revisions if models trend warmer overnight. Updated forecast runs and official observations through the day will be the key near-term drivers.
