The open race for Hobart Lord Mayor, following Anna Reynolds' decision not to seek re-election after eight years and her planned August 2026 departure, has created a fragmented field of independents and sitting councillors. With the October local government elections approaching under Tasmania's single transferable vote system, no candidate has consolidated broad support amid internal council tensions, including debates over amalgamation, land returns, and chamber dynamics. This uncertainty keeps implied probabilities closely matched among contenders such as Marti Zucco, Mike Dutta, Bill Harvey, Louise Bloomfield, Ryan Posselt, and John Kelly. Recent candidate interest and any late endorsements or polling shifts could begin to separate frontrunners before voting.
