Ryan Elijah secured the Republican nomination for Florida’s 7th congressional district in the August 18 primary by defeating incumbent Cory Mills amid ethics concerns and internal party dissatisfaction. Bale Dalton advanced on the Democratic side after a competitive primary that included former Representative Alan Grayson. The district, which leaned Republican by double digits in the prior cycle, carries “Likely Republican” ratings from multiple forecasters, yet recent boundary shifts and modest Democratic gains in 2024 keep the seat competitive. Traders appear to weigh Elijah’s local name recognition as a former television anchor and stronger general-election positioning against Dalton’s military service record and national party support, producing the current 66.5–33 split in implied probability ahead of the November 3 general election.
