Recent National Weather Service and model guidance points to northeasterly flow and a cooler maritime air mass moderating temperatures over the Northeast, with consensus forecasts for a September 6 high in the mid-70s at Central Park—several degrees below the 1991-2020 average of 79.5°F. This setup, featuring partly to mostly sunny skies with light winds and minimal precipitation risk, narrows the most probable range while still allowing for small model spread around peak afternoon readings. Historical analogs show similar post-Labor Day patterns can shift several degrees with changes in steering flow or cloud cover, and traders appear to price this residual uncertainty across multiple bins ahead of the final NWS verification.
