Israeli airstrikes targeted sites in the Kisweh area south of Damascus as recently as April 15, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, amid ongoing security concerns over weapons stockpiles and militia movements following Bashar al-Assad's ouster in December 2024. Earlier this month, Syria temporarily closed its border crossing with Lebanon after Israeli warnings of strikes, while U.S. intervention reportedly halted a planned Israeli attack on the Masnaa crossing. On March 20, Israel struck Syrian army headquarters in Damascus and southern camps in response to violence against Druze communities, drawing condemnations from Turkey and Jordan as escalatory. With Syria's air defenses weakened and no major diplomatic breakthroughs, traders monitor potential further military actions, proxy threats from Hezbollah, and regional de-escalation signals ahead of any Ramadan or Easter-related tensions.

A qualifying "strike" is defined as the use of aerial bombs, drones or missiles (including cruise or ballistic missiles) launched by Israeli military forces that impact within Damascus Governorate.
Missiles or drones which are intercepted and surface-to-air missile strikes will not be sufficient for a "Yes" resolution regardless of whether they land in Damascus Governorate, or cause damage.
The primary resolution source for this market will be a consensus of credible reporting and video evidence. If there is ambiguity over whether a strike occurred, or whether the drone/missile was intercepted, this market will resolve based on whatever is most likely according to a consensus of credible reporting and video evidence.
