With over 90% of ballots counted in Peru's April 12 first-round presidential election as of April 15, Juntos por el Perú candidate Roberto Sánchez Palomino holds a narrow lead over Rafael López Aliaga for second place behind frontrunner Keiko Fujimori, reflecting trader consensus on Polymarket where Sánchez trades at 65% implied probability for the runoff spot. Sánchez's rural stronghold vote—historically slower to tabulate—has propelled him ahead after initial urban counts from Lima favored López Aliaga, amid logistical delays and protests demanding result verification. No candidate exceeded 50%, setting a June 7 runoff between the top two, pending final certification by the National Electoral Office (ONPE).
