In the ATP Challenger 75 Santa Cruz de la Sierra on clay, fifth seed Facundo Mena (No. 297) faced compatriot Valerio Aboian (No. 534) in the second round after Mena advanced via Juan Pablo Varillas' retirement at 7-5, 3-1, and Aboian progressed through qualifying. Mena held a 2-1 head-to-head edge on clay, but Aboian claimed their most recent clash 6-3, 5-7, 6-1 in the Concepcion Challenger first round last month, signaling his stylistic matchup edge with strong baseline play and improved return game. No injury concerns surfaced in official reports, though high-altitude conditions in Bolivia could favor endurance; trader consensus likely weighed Mena's ranking and seeding against Aboian's momentum from qualifiers and prior upset.
